Miranda Booth PhD

Taken graduation day in my office. As a member of the academic procession, I was especially privileged to hear a student graduating from my humanitarian degree give the valedictory address in front of the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, distinguished guests, our First Nations people and worldly international student body.

Dr. Miranda Booth is an Australian scholar of international relations and political science with a specialisation in international security.

She is based in Darwin, the forefront of Australiaโ€™s defence.

Dr. Booth is the course convener of the Bachelor of Humanitarian Aid and Development at Charles Darwin University one of Australia and the worldโ€™s only humanitarian degrees.

Now welcoming honours, research candidates and new students for 2025 into the program from around the world.


๐Ÿ‘‹ Nice to meet you

Dr. Boothโ€™s research investigates the projection and reception of strategic narratives in the Indo-Pacific.

Her research examines strategic narratives on diverse traditional and non-traditional security challenges, including climate change-related disasters and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.

Alongside her policy-oriented research, she explores the interplay between strategic studies and global crisis response.

Dr. Boothโ€™s work has been published in both political science and international relations journals, and by the Australian Government and the United Nations.

Dr. Booth has also contributed to Australian government security policy initiatives and multilateral military exercises.

Dr. Booth has successfully held research and teaching roles at Charles Darwin University, the University of Melbourne, and the University of New South Wales. Dr. Booth holds a PhD from Charles Darwin University, an MPhil in Politics & International Relations from the University of New South Wales, Canberra, home of the Australian Defence Force Academy, a Bachelor of International Relations from the Australian National University, and a Graduate Certificate in University Teaching from the University of Melbourne (final semester).
